HOME AND SCHOOL:

1. Student Newsletter.

The school publishes a weekly students' newsletter which is distributed on Fridays.  Please make a point of looking for and reading this newsletter, as the students like to have their art and stories published.

2. Teachers Newsletter.
Teachers write a monthly newsletter to update parents on the curricular activities that will take place during the coming month.  Teachers hope that parents will follow up with their children on the different activities that are noted and be aware of the special information that is included in the newsletter.

3. Parental Involvement.
Parents are a child's first and most important teachers.  Parents are encouraged to take an active part in their child's education.  Parental involvement in the education process should include:
  • making sure that students come to school every day ready to learn
  • providing a nutritious snack and lunch for each child
  • providing each student with the school supplies he or she needs
  • ensuring that students have the time and encouragement to complete assigned homework

  • assisting the classroom teacher whenever possible as requested by the teacher

4. Room Parents and Other Volunteers.
Classrooms benefit when a parent offers to help a teacher with coordinating parties, school activities, etc.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact your child's teacher.

    5. Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
The Parent Teacher Association meets once per month.  See the school calendar for scheduled dates.  See also About GAIS> Student, Faculty & Staff List> Administration.  The purpose of the PTA is to:
    • provide a communication link between parents, teachers and the School Board
    • provide a way for parents to assist the school with activities which will enhance and support the school's instructional program
