February 2001. Black History Tea Party.
"This week our class
has been studying historical figures in Black history. Black history
is celebrated every February. To show what we learned, we are becoming
the Black historical person that we researched and are having them meet
at a morning tea.
Steven is Thurgood Marshall;
Priya is Harriet Tubman; Jessica is Sojourner Truth; Paaritosh is Mahatma
Gandhi; Jennyvin is Dr. Martin LutherKing Jr.; Julius Ko is Malcolm X;
and Christine is Federick Douglass. We will be reading Slave Dancer
and a letter from a slave girl in our literature circle groups. Happy
Black History Month!"
