Galactic Battle: A Star Wars RPG
Gambling
The seedy underworld offers many forms of legal (as well as illegal) gambling. Here in Galactic Battle, we have various games of chance, as listed below.
Pazaak:
An ancient card game where the object is to get as close to 20 without going over. With positive and negative cards being delt, it's not as easy as it may seem!
Rules: Pazaak requires a minimum of two people and a dealer (played by a lead player).
Each game of pazaak requires players to win three rounds. Each player will roll to see who goes first, with the high roller drawing first. Players will the decide how much to bet before the first card is delt. Each player will then take turns rolling 1d10. Each side on the dice represents a certain card.
- 1 = -5
- 2 = -4
- 3 = -3
- 4 = -2
- 5 = -1
- 6 = +1
- 7 = +2
- 8 = +3
- 9 = +4
- 10 = +5
The dealer will roll 4d10 in a separate chat and give both players their specialty cards which can be used at anytime after the dealer "draws a card". After the initial draw, players may choose to stay or draw (stay meaning stick with their current hand, draw meaning have the dealer deal you another card.) The game ends when one player goes over 20 or when both players stay with their hands, the player closest to 20 without going over wins, and the first player to win 3 rounds wins the pot.
Sabaac
Perhaps the most famous, as well as the most complicated, card game in the galaxy. Sabaac must be played with a minimum of 3 players plus a dealer (played by a lead player).
The Cards: Galactic Battle Sabaac uses 23 card in it's game play. The dealer rolls 4d23 for each player in a seperate chat and tells them their hand in an IM. The cards are represented on dice as followed.
- Sides 1-15 are face value cards. Meaning 1=1, 2=2 etc.
- 16 is Queen of Air and Darkness (with a value of -2)
- 17 is Endurance (with a value of -8)
- 18 is Balance (with a value of -11)
- 19 is Demise (with a value of -13)
- 20 is Moderation (with a value of -14)
- 21 is The Evil One (with a value of -15)
- 22 is The Star (with a value of -17)
- 23 is The Idiot (with a value of 0)
Rules: There are two versions of Sabaac: Regular Sabaac and High Stakes Sabaac. Both are a card game using the 23 cards above, involving various betting rounds.
- The Initial Round: This is the round where the opening bet is taken. The dealer shall inform the players what the opening bet is.
- The Deal Round: The dealer handles the rolling in a chat. The dealer shall communicate privately with all players via IM to tell them what their hands are.
- The Betting Round: This round is for placing the next bet, increasing the pot size. The starting bet will rotate every hand. (Please note: If player A bet 200 and player B bet 300 and Player C bet 400, Player A and B must match Player C's bet in order to move to the next round.)
- Exchange Round: During this round, players may chose to exchange their cards for new ones drawn by the dealer. Players can chose to exchange up to three of their cards per exchange round.
- Second Better Round: The Second Betting round plays out just like the first betting round. The first bet must match the highest bet of the last round.
- Second Exchange Round: The Second Exchange Round plays out just like the first exchange round, with players allowed to switch up to three of their cards.
- Final Betting Round: Plays out like the previous betting rounds, with all players deciding to match the current high bet or to fold their hands.
- Show of Hands: At this point all players must call out their final hands.
The Dealer will keep track of peoples hands at all time to prevent cheating.
How to Win: There are three ways to win in Sabaac.
- By having your hand be as close to +23 as possible without going over.
- By having your hand be as close to -23 as possible without going under.
- By having what is know as the "Idiot's Array". Idiot's Array means you have in your hand a 2, a 3 and the Idiot (value of 0). This would literally mean you have 023 in your hand.
In Sabaac, Idiots Array will always beat a positive 23 which beats a -23. Positives will always beat negatives in the event of a tie. (ie: Player A has +19 and Player B has -19). The player closest to +23 or -23 wins the pot!
High Stakes Sabaac
High Stakes Sabaac plays almost identical to regular sabaac with a few small differences.
- High Stakes Sabaac requires everyone to play a minimum of 7 rounds and must have at least 4 players.
- High Stakes Sabaac has a "Game Pot", where 10% of the total pot goes into. The winner of the majority of the rounds will also win the "Game Pot".
- Before the second exchange round, the dealer will roll 2d5. If the roll goes over 7, all the cards in the players hands will be reset and will have a new hand delt to them by the dealer.
Please Note: For all gambling games, you must have credits in your inventory in order to bet them. You cannot bet more than you have!
