Edoras was the capital of Rohan built by Brego son of Eorl the Young (the second king of Rohan) in a valley of the White Mountains. Its Golden Hall of Meduseld was a large hall with a straw roof and was decorated to honor the Rohirrim. The King and his family lived there and it also served as a place of celebration (much like a similiar hall in Beowulf). At the time of The Lord of the Rings, Aragorn, Gimli, Gandalf, and Legolas meet King Theoden here and persuade him to fight.
