It was known as Laurelindórinan (Land of the Valley of the Singing Gold) and Lórinand (Golden Valley). It was later renamed Lothlórien (Lórien of the Blossom) and its shortened form is simply Lórien and is sometimes referred to as the Golden Wood. Lórien was first settled by Nandorin Silvan elves and later Sindarin Elves. Galadriel and her husband Celeborn travel to Lórien and rule there. After the destruction of the One Ring, Galadriel remains for a while and Celeborn rules for yet a while longer, but both leave for the Valinor as the Elves dwindle in Middle Earth.
