Weathertop lies along the Great East Road. It is to the east of Bree and is halfway between the Shire and Rivendell (probably why the hobbits and Strider stopped there). The hill was once a watchtower, but was burned in 1409 of the third age.
The top of the hills is flat and is surrounded by stones. A path from the top leads northward connecting to the Weather Hills. The tower once had a Palatir.
At Weathertop, Frodo is stabbed by the Morgul blade.
