Cream & Sugar

Now as for adding cream to your coffee, I always use half and half. Some people like using milk, and that's fine, but the coffee will definitely taste different. Using half and half makes the coffee creamier and richer. Yum! And, non-dairy creamers are unworthy of a good cup of joe!--in my humble opinion, of course. As for sweeteners, I only use real sugar. There are artificial sweeteners out there that have zero calories, but I really think that the sugar I use is less harmful a substance than those. And it tastes better with the real thing. My insistence on using only real cream and sugar--and my habit of adding anything at all rather than drinking it black--probably stems from the fact that I drink coffee as a comfort beverage. Coffee represents a feeling of relaxation and contemplation for me. Obviously, I am not a good spokesperson for low-calorie dining.

Another way to spice up your java is to add other flavors. For instance, cinnamon can be added after you've poured your cream into the coffee--use a cinnamon stick. Or, you can add ground cinnamon to the coffee grounds before brewing--a couple shakes of the bottle ought to suffice. Also, different syrup flavors can be added: chocolate, hazelnut, etc.
