Galaxy Kennels is owned by Lisa Wilson and is based in Hickory Tavern, SC, a small town about 30 minutes outside Greenville and about an hour northwest of Columbia. I first used the kennel name "Galaxy" in 1989, although I have been involved in dogs much longer.
As a child, I particpated in junior showmanship, showing a variety of dogs including poodles. I drifted to and from dogs for a number of years, in part due to the lack of support for showing dogs from the people in my life. During this time, I owned and occasionally showed several different breeds, including Yorkshire Terriers and rough collies.

In 1989, I returned to showing dogs in earnest and adopted "Galaxy" as my kennel name. My first homebred litter was a whippet litter bred in 1993. During the early 1990s I was active in both whippets and yorkies. By the mid 1990s, I had bred two litters of whippets and my first yorkie litter.
However, my involvement in dogs was once again interrupted by the people in my life. An unpleasant divorce left me with the need to downsize my kennel, during which time I placed out all of my whippets. Also, I was only able to show sporadically for several years during this time. Throughout this time I did retain all of my yorkies.

By the late 1990s, I was back into showing dogs on a regular basis, with 2 non-dog loving EX-husbands behind me. 1999 marked the arrival of the first Belgian Malinois at Galaxy Kennels and was a banner year here at Galaxy. Ch Galaxy's Dark Side of the Moon CGC ("Floyd"), finished his championship in June to become my first homebred champion. Several months later I finished my second dog of the year, Belgian Malinois Ch Lynhaven's Lacey ("Lacey").
This past year also saw the addition of two new yorkies to the kennel, Class Act's Hot Pursuit ("Jeffrey") and his daughter, Ripshin's High Hopes For Galaxy ("Gidget").

2000 is looking to be an exciting year here at Galaxy. I have added two new dogs so far this year, the Belgian Malinois C'villa's Satan Vom Rowehaus (a beautiful dog with such a terrible name, I call him "Sonny Boy") and a Minature Pinscher puppy T & T's Steppin Up to the Galaxy ("Harley"). The new malinois, "Sonny Boy", is from my bitch Lacey's last breeding before I acquired her. Harley the min pin adds a new breed to Galaxy Kennels and a new set of challenges. Two new yorkie puppies have also joined the Galaxy family this year. They are litter brothers Alex and Beamer bred by my friends Angela and Jeff Hart.
On September 10, 2000 my first litter of Malinois arrived. For more information on the litter, please see the Litters page. I have been keeping very busy raising the babies and I looking forward to seeing them grow.
I do accept some client dogs. I currently have one Belgian Malinois client who has been scoring some impressive wins. He currently lasts only a major and has several Best of Breed wins. I have also been showing several client yorkies.
