PLEASE NOTE that this gallery is still being built -- most of the subpages will be ready by early 2008.
This is a small gallery showing SW receivers from the '60s & '70s that I've collected over the past few years. There would be more here, but I live in Slovakia now, and the Slovak Customs Office makes getting every radio an adventure.
My first SW radio was a Heathkit GR-64 that I assembled in 1968 when I was 12. My second was an Allied A-2515 -- a very nice "economy-priced" receiver at the time, and a huge improvement over the GR-64.
You'll notice that there are no "high-end" sets here -- no Collins, Drakes, Hammarlunds, or Nationals -- mostly because I couldn't even have considered buying them as a young teenager, and so they hold no emotional interest for me. Back then I spent my time pondering the affordables -- the Realistics, Lafayettes, Allieds, and Heathkits that make up this gallery.
(A page from my logbook, 1970, obviously a handmade affair...)
