Club History
The GAA club has been in existence in Galbally since the start of the century 1905. They won the south junior football championship in 1928 and the south and county finals in 1930.

Galbally Minors won south titles in 1937, 1938 and the south and county title in 1940. They also won the south titles in 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944 and the south minor and junior title in 1946. The club won no titles in 1947.

At the AGM in 1950 Michael Cummins was elected secretary, PJ Cussen was elected vice chairman. The minor team won the south championship, PJ Ryan was elected chairman of the south limerick divisional board. PJ Cussen played on the limerick junior football team that won the Munster championship.

In 1965 Galbally won the south and county Junior and Minor titles. In 1966 they won the first under 21 south title and in 1968 won the county junior title. In 1969 they contested their first county senior football final only to be beaten by Claughaun.

PJ Ryan was chairman of the south limerick divisional board from 1950 to 1974, he was also chairman of the Munster Council and Vice President of the GAA from 1967 to 1971. He is at present Limericks representative to the central council.

In 1978 Jim Fitzgerald was elected chairman. In 1978 Mike Quish was selected to play on the Munster railway cup team, he was the first limerick man to play on a winning Munster team. Out minors were victorious in the south final over Knockainey.

In 1979 our minors retained their south title with an easy victory over Na Fianna. Eddie Ryan took over as chairman and Con Bourke became secretary. Our senior football team reached the south final against Croom and the game ended in a draw. Our under 16 team won the south final and went forward to win the county final by defeating St. Mary’s 1-7 to 0-3.

In 1980 Tim Cummins was selected to play on the limerick county team. Our Senior and under 21 teams again captured the south crown. In 1981 Tim Ryan became secretary. Our minor side won the south league and our seniors won the south senior football championship. Bernie Sampson won the south final of the Scor Na nOg for recitation and went forward to represent us at the county final.

We were hosts to a Dublin club for a weekend. Paddy Bell of the Rathgar inn Dublin presented us with a cup to be played for annually between his club (Rathgar Gaels) and Galbally in memory of the late Mick Scanlon RIP who was prominent in both clubs, Galbally won 3-9 to 1-7.

1984 was the centenary year of the GAA. Our Novice Hurlers won the south title for the first time in the history of Galbally GAA. 1985 Mike Henebry became chairman, we won the south senior title. Our minors also won the south title and were beaten by Claughaun in the county semi final. In 1986 our under 14 hurlers made history by capturing the south and county championship titles (C Division), it was the first hurling county championship won by this club.

In 1987 Gerard Carew took over as Hon. Sec. 87 and 88 were quiet on the playing field. 1989 Gerard Fitzgerald was elected secretary, no championship success. 1990 all officers were re-elected, we won county intermediate football, south senior football and south minor football. In 1991 John Wallace was elected chairman, Denis Ryan Hon. Sec. Again we won south senior football and South Junior Football League.

In 1992 John Wallace and Denis Ryan were reelected and Eddie Ryan was elected treasurer, we won south Junior B Hurling Championship and were narrowly beaten in county final after replay. In 1993 John Wallace and Eddie Ryan were re-elected and Gerard Cussen was elected Hon. Sec.
