Three Simple Questions, Answered
Just the other day I was thinking about 1 hand clapping, tree's falling in the woods and the chicken and the egg. And the answers for all of them are so simple, obvious, and indisputable.
1) One hand clapping - is not sequitor, the definition of a clap is : 1-To strike the palms of the hands together with a sudden explosive sound, as in applauding. 2-To come together suddenly with a sharp sound.
One hand cannot clap, it is contrary to the basic definition, and therefor an invald question.
2) The question "if a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it, does it make a sound" is clearly - YES. Sound is a mechanical wave propogation through a medium. "HEARING" is a passive activity that certain biological organs and certain mechanical devices which record mechanical waves propogating through a medium. So - those mechanical wave propogations would occur when the tree fell regardless of if there was an organic or inorganic recording device around to register the event.
and Finally -
3) Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg. That also is pretty simple. The egg came first. It's irrefutable. Evolution is the process of natural selection of the most viable organism, based on the observation that random mutation permeates all organic species and the ones that randomly mutate in a way to make them more competitve will live longer and reproduce more successfully.
So - the first chicken was a mutation born of a creature that was 'not-quite' a modern chicken. So - a "modern chicken egg" (a mutation) was laid by a "not-quite-chicken", and fertilzed and it hatched into what we know of as the "modern Chicken". Of course, the animal that laid it would be so close as to be indistinguishable from the modern chicken, as it was from it's forefather and so on and so on all the way back to the dinosaurs that chickens evolved from. Possibly procomsigathaurous or some other such creature.
Therefore - the EGG came before the Chicken.
