In recent times Diamond Head have attained a kind of legendary status, partly due to their influence on bands like Metallica, It wasn’t always like that, though. When I saw them at Banbury Winter Gardens in 1981 they came on stage with the words: ‘Hands up the 12 people who bought advance tickets’. These pictures were taken at the Brunel Rooms, Swindon in 1980 - that’s the small room in Brunal Rooms, not even the larger room where Iron Maiden played. Diamond Head there a few times, and hence I was able to take the pictures to a later gig and get them autographed.
