Playstation Modification scph 9001*
Classic Four Wire**

Here are some extremely detailed instructions that have been designed to help you modify your playstation as quick as possible.
In order to begin your modification you will need the following:

1. A soldering iron with a fine tip and solder (we send you super thin solder, use it!)
2. A philips head screwdriver

Now that you have the materials we are ready to modify the playstation!

Step 1:

Go to a clean work area and heat up your soldering iron. Mark on a piece of paper 4 sections for the
screws A,B,

Step 2:

Turn over the playstation and remove the 6 screws from the base. Place the 6 screws on the screw sheet in section A. Turn the
system back over and remove the top cover.

Step 3:

Removal of the cables and laser housing unit:

1. Remove the connectors on top of console. There are four of them and each require a little tug.
2.To remove the copper colored connector from YOU MUST pull firmly while holding the white papered area.
3. After the connectors have been moved. Remove the laser housing unit as seen below:

Step 4: Removal of the Metal Bracket

Remove the four screws from the metal bracket and place them in location B on the screw
sheet. Now remove the metal bracket and again put it into a safe but close place. This will expose the whole circuit board.

WE ARE NOW READY TO INSTALL THE MOD CHIP

Examine the board below this is where you will solder the wires coming from the chip.

Below is an enlarged view of the red, black, green and yellow wire soldering points (the yellow is actually is soldered to the top of the resister in the diagram, and the green wire is bridged from the solder pad to the round copper spot on board )

Make sure to leave the cover on the chip as it isolates it from the board. Now… There are 4 points to
solder your wires to.

Pin 1 (red wire) of the chip goes to location 1.

Pin 5 (green wire) cut it off from the chip as it jumps the two spots at location 5. For the 9001 YES you
actually cut the wire off the chip and use it to join the 2 spots. Yes that's what I said, cut off the wire from the chip and use it to bridge the two spots on the board together, five wire chips do the
same thing via the mod chip, why pay more, use our special mod chip and use our method, less work,
only 3 wires from the chip, and the forth wire bridges the 2 spots. Our modchips does less work, and will
last forever!

Some Modchip dealers sell 5 wire chips that actually have two wires coming from the chip to bridge these
spots, by doing this you make your machine open to possible problems, this is not recommended. Keep it
simple, use our chip and method to ensure your machine lasts a lifetime.

Pin 6 (yellow wire) of the chip goes to location 6

Pin 8 (black wire) of the chip goes to location 8

Now all you have to do is solder the wires to the system board. Trim the wires, make the pre stripped end
the same size as the location your soldering to. Now add a small amount of solder to spots your going to
be soldering to, just heat up that spot and add a SMALL amount of solder. After doing this to all spots
wires will be soldered to, one at a time place each wire on top of those spots and heat them up on the
board so they attach to the correct locations. Thats it your done, no need to mount the chip, just make
sure its flat against the board.

Reverse all the steps above to reassemble your system.
