I first read about this game in an issue of Computer Games. It came off as really goofy mostly because Max's face is contorted in some strange way through the whole game. As I read further, it spoke of "Bullet-Time"; that didn't seem very intersting either until I played it. I thought it was just another shooter until my friend rented it for X-BOX and we played it together. Usually pc to console ports get hacked into total pieces of crap, but I don't see how it could have possibly been any better on the pc. This game is one-of-a-kind and my mind is aching for a sequel. The story is told through graphic novels as well as real-time movies with voice acting better than anyone could hope for. With a touch of comedy, a dash of story-telling, and truckloads of action, Max Payne mixes up a new recipe for shooters with ease. The gameplay is fantastic, the controls have bit of a learning curve, say 30 minutes, but it is necassary for the bullet-time and shoot-dodging techniques. The bullet time makes you feel like you're in the Matrix sequel or a John Woo flick. This is a masterful game that demands you play through it more than once for more of a challenge. I just pray that the oncoming onslaught of "Max Payne-Clones" won't put the name of Max Payne to shame.
