Perception Roll Statistic

Perception is a figured characteristic that can come into play throughout the course of an adventure. Perception rolls are made on a d100, a roll under the characters perception stat indicates a successful notice by the PC. This roll may be penalized if the notice is something that is normally difficult to perceive.

Base:

INT + WIS + DEX + Level

After you have added these numbers together for your base your Perception score will be modified based upon class and levels as follows:

Fighter, Paladin, Caviler, Barbarian, Pit-Fighter, Anti-Paladin, Duelist, Targeteer, Archer, Mage, Illusionist, Fighter-Mage, Mentalist, Necropact, Cleric, & Druid:

Add +1 per level

Ranger, Bounty-Hunter, Bandit, Assassin, Thief, & Thief-Acrobat

Add +2 per level

Praetorian & Monk:

Add +3 per level

Bloodguard:

Add +4 per level

Thus, a 7th level assassin with 15’s in all stats would have a base of 52 (15 + 15 +15 + 7) and have an additional +14 for his level for a total of 64 on a d100. Not too shabby.

Difficulty:

Simple notice: roll + 0-25: This is a basic notice roll. The roll would be made to see an Ogre walking through a human village, a bunch of Gnolls sitting on a barren hill etc. Mostly easy stuff to see.

Average notice: roll +/- 0: This is the characters regular notice roll. This roll would be made to notice that a group of men were armed with swords, or a noble was walking down the street.

Difficult notice: roll –5-25: This roll would be made to notice men carrying weapons concealed under their cloaks, a seam in a wall or other difficult thing to perceive.

Hard notice: roll –25-50: A character would be making this roll to notice a small symbol on a dagger pommel, a well made concealed door, or someone actively seeking to conceal their actions.

Very Hard notice –50+: A character would have to make this roll to detect a poison blade, to penetrate a clever disguise, or to pick out well made sword amongst a pile of others.
