Cement

This movie stars Chris Penn and Jeffrey Wright. This is another cop role for Chris. The plot seems confusing at first but it's really quite simple. All the flashbacks may serve to confuse you (I know I'm not too fond of flashbacks). It's about two corrupt cops working with other cops who are corrupt too, though you're probably not supposed to know that 'til the end... Anyway, Chris plays Bill Holt, a cop who goes off the deep end when he finds his wife (or girlfriend, it's unspecified) cheating with Sean (Anthony de Sando), one of the guys he does business with. Chris is obviously good at playing explosive characters and his intense scenes are really impressive. He takes the guy and pretty much just tortures him with cement, while his drugged-up partner (J. Wright) occasionally tries to talk sense into him. All the while, flashbacks reveal what led up to this and we realize that Bill is being hunted by the cops... Good, solid performances from the whole cast; I'd give this film 7 points out of 10. I'd give Chris' performance 8. I give the director & cameraman points for the close-ups on Chris' beautiful eyes =)
