Thorin was the leader of the thirteen dwarves for which Bilbo was selected by Gandalf as the "lucky number". He managed to reclaim Erebor from the dragon Smaug, but died in the attempt. He earned the nickname Oakenshield in the famous battle of Azanulbizar.

Wargear

In battle, Thorin wears heavy armor and carry axes (hand weapons) including an especially large axe that can be used with two hands (two-handed axe). He can use either an ordinary axe or his two-handed axe - though not both at the same time (Not enough hands!).

At additional cost, they may be equipped with the following items:
Bow                                      5 points
Shield                                  5 points
Oaken Shield                5 points
Orcrist                              40 points

Bow. If Thorin is equipped with a bow he cannot also carry a two-handed axe - he just doesn't have enough hands free. Therefore, equipping Thorin with a bow will replace the two-handed axe he is normally equipped with.

Shield. Thorin cannot wield a two-handed axe at the same time as a shield - he needs both hands for his weapon. Thherefore, equipping Thorin with a shield will replace the two-handed axe he is normally
equipped with. Carrying a shield will add +1 to his Defense characteristic unless he is also carrying a bow, in which case it adds nothing. Models that are primarily bow-armed don't increase their Defense if they carry shields as they need both hands free to use or carry their bow. They can still use the 'shielding' rule in a fight, though, so there is some benefit to carrying both shield and bow.

Oaken Shield. At the Battle of Azanulbizar, Thorin's shield was destroyed, so he chopped a sturdy branch off an oak tree to replace it. Because it lacks the size and protection of a regular shield, the Oaken Shield does not provide a bonus to Defense, but still allows Thorin to use the Shielding rules. However, because it is less bulky, should Thorin win a combat while Shielding, he is allowed to strike at one enemy he has beaten back with a single attack. This is the sole difference in Shielding using the Oaken Shield.

Designer's Note: He's Gimli with some extra wargear options. The Oaken Shield rule may not be properly priced, I just figured the ability to actually make a single hit while Shielding made up for the
loss of an additional +1 to Defense. As it's rather important to the character (he got his nickname from it, for crying out loud) I decided that some sort of special rule was in order.  -And Thorin did use a bow at least once in The Hobbit, so that's been included too.
