REALLY NICE ! SO WHAT ABOUT THE CRACK !
Suppose Your friend has War2 CD (or both War2 & War2x CDs).You borrowed it
and You have installed it on Your HDD . Now You want to play Single Player
game,but the program still demands War2 CD (or worse by War2x You must have
both CDs and then change them in CD drive depending on if You want to play
+TD+ or +BP+ campaigns) and Your friend wants it back.So what to do ?
Follow these instructions:
0) First You have to decide what do You want to install.If You want to
play only War2 or You have only War2 CD (You need only War2 CD),
jump to INSTALLING WAR2.
If You want to play all (You must have both War2 and War2x CDs),
jump to INSTALLING WAR2X.
1) Borrow from Your friend War2 CD and install the game on HDD.
2) Copy War2 files "muddat.cud" and "snddat.war" from CD's "\DATA"
directory to Your HDD "\DATA" directory.You'll need 75 MB of disk
space.If You don't have so much space or You don't want view movies
and hear mission briefings,use "muddat.cud" and "snddat.war"
from this ZIP archive.
3) Modify lines in "War2.ini" file as follows :
"cdpath=." and "cdaudio=0". "cdpath=" line means from which
directory will be files "muddat.cud" and "snddat.war" read.There
is a small hint:if You don't have enough space on HDD,let record
somewhere on a CD-WROM directory "\DATA" and place in it original
War2 "muddat.cud" and "snddat.war" files.In "cdpath=" line then
write path to directory which includes "\DATA" directory.You'll
save place and view movies and hear mission breafings.
4) Install War2 v1.2 patch or v1.4 patch.This is not neccessary.
5) Jump to FINISHING THE WORK
1) Borrow from Your friends both War2 and War2x CDs.Then install
the game on Your HDD.First War2 , then War2x.
2) Copy ! War2x ! files "muddat.cud" and "snddat.war" from CD's
"\DATA" directory to Your HDD "\DATA" directory.You'll need
118 MB of disk space.If You don't have so much disk space or
You don't want view movies,use "muddat.cud" and "snddat.war"
from this ZIP archive.
3) Modify lines in "War2.ini" file rewriting these lines:
"cdpath=." and "cdaudio=0". The line "cdpath=" means from which
directory will "War2.exe" read files "muddat.cud" and
"snddat.war" .Here is a small hint: let record somewhere on
a CD-WROM directory "\DATA" and place in it original ! War2x !
"muddat.cud" and "snddat.war" files.Then write to "cdpath=" line
path to directory which includes "\DATA" directory .You'll
save place on disk and still view movies and hear mission briefings.
4) Install War2x v1.33 or v1.5 patch.This is not neccessary.
5) Jump to FINISHING THE WORK
FINISHING THE WORK
6) You ! MUST ! know Your "War2.exe" file version.You can see this
in the Game's Main Menu bellow (there is "WARCRAFT II RETAIL vX.x")
or read it in SETUP by clicking on SYSTEM INFO.
7) Now look on the table below and write down the numbers which
belong to Your version.This is the table format :
VERSION_NUMBER ,WAR2.EXE_LENGTH - OFFSET_ADDRESS : OLD_BYTES -> NEW_BYTES
All numbers are in hexadecimal."War2.exe"'s filesize is in
bytes in decimal.
v1.00 , 878 119 -- 733B0 : 74 0C -> EB 14 *Disables CD check
v1.20 , 878 695 -- 737A0 : 74 0C -> EB 14 *Disables CD check
v1.31 , 900 539 -- 7643D : 74 0C -> EB 1F *Disables CD check
-- 9BBC0 : 75 0B -> 90 90 *Enables playing both
v1.33 , 900 539 -- 764D9 : 74 0C -> EB 1F *Disables CD check
-- 9BD50 : 75 0B -> 90 90 *Enables playing both
v1.40 , 884 571 -- 74330 : 74 0C -> EB 14 *Disables CD check
v1.50 , 906 927 -- 77268 : 74 0C -> EB 1F *Disables CD check
-- 9CEC0 : 75 0B -> 90 90 *Enables playing both
! BACKUP! the "war2.exe" file ! It takes only 900kB of disk
and the safety is much more important then a space .
8) Take a HexEditor (Norton DiskEdit or Hacker's View recommended),
goto OFFSET_ADDRESS and replace OLD_BYTES by NEW_BYTES .You can
check that You have the right file by comparing size of Your
"War2.exe" and WAR2.EXE_LENGTH .
9) So that was all work to do.Now You can view movies,hear mission
briefings (if You have original "muddat.cud" and "snddat.war"
files) and play single game.Of course,You'll not hear CD music.
>>>>>>>>> Problems report on this e-mail adress : email@example.com
I hope You'll enjoy these small changes , useful also for the people who
legally bought the game,but all the time CD changing bug them . In addition
now You can lend it to Your friends and still play without CD.
I'm still not sure how does it work when playing in net or by cable
or modem . But the program reports that You have CD inserted , so it
should be O.K.
Special thanks to : Alexander Czech,X-TECH,Watcom team,Edson,Fravia,
Warlord,Psycho,M.D.A,Cyber of Hybrid and others ...
... and of course our dear BLIZZARD !
