Chapter Two: Donjemon’s Arrival

“Endermon! Where’d you go?” Musashi leaned through a screen of bushes after her Digimon. “What’re you doing?”

The sleek black cat looked back at her. “Oh, c’mon, Musashi! I thought I heard something. Let’s go find out what it was.”

“Are you sure it wasn’t some evil Digimon? It might have been your imagination, you know.” She pushed herself through as her partner continued going. “Hey, wait up!”

Endermon sat on his haunches as she dashed towards him. Musashi’s light brown hair fluttered behind her as her aqua green eyes looked thankfully at him. He rose back to all fours as she drew level and slowed.

   “Thanks for being patient.”

“No problem!” He grinned mischievously, turning back to his path. “Now let’s at least find out what that sound was I heard.”

Before too long, a good-sized purplish pink Digimon crossed their path. He had green hair down his back, coming up to the top of his head in three flat spikes. He had three curled claws on each of his hands and feet, and random purple stripes were on his arms and face. When he saw them, he waved and smiled happily.

“Hey!  Jeff and I were trying to find someone. Maybe it was you guys!” He spun about and called behind him, “C’mon out, Jeff!” I’ve found somebody!

A boy about nine years old strolled out casually and looked at the two others. He was wearing an orange vest, a gray T-shirt, and white jeans. “Who’re you guys?” he asked, if not a little demanding.

“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Jeff, even if we’re not who you were looking for,” Endermon said politely, nodding his head with a smile.

   “And…” he continued for them.

“And what?” Musashi asked. “Oh, sorry. My name’s Musashi, and this here is my pal, Endermon. Who are you guys looking for?”

Jeff tossed his head the other way and started walking away. “To find my sister. She said she would meet me here.” The Digimon hurried after him and tugged at his vest.

“ Wait a minute! Shouldn’t we introduce ourselves?”

“Jeff, Jangemon.” He kept walking, ignoring the three behind him.

“Now just a minute! You finally find someone, and now you just keep going?” Jangemon stood in front of Jeff, shaking his claw angrily. “You go back there right now and get your act together!”

Jeff glared back at his Digimon, but turned back, kicking little rocks with his feet. His Digimon ran back merrily.

“Now, let’s try that again. My name is Jangemon, and this is my human partner, Jeff.” There was a moment’s pause before Jangemon elbowed Jeff’s knees.

  “Hello,” came the curt reply.

Jangemon looked at the others apologetically. “He’s not usually like this. I think he just had a bad day. That’s probably the best he can do right now.” He glanced at Jeff and continued, “but now that we’ve found someone else, I guess you guys can come with us till we find the others. Right, Jeff?”

   “Yeah…”

Jangemon shrugged and motioned them to follow. “I’m sure he’ll warm up to you guys soon enough.”

“Well, that’s a comforting thought,” Endermon whispered to Musashi as they went,” I couldn’t stand it if I were ignored the whole time.”

“I know, it’s like walking with a silent Etamon. It’s just weird!”

“Oh, NO!” Buddy grabbed Adelmon from off his head and shook him. “WE CAN’T KEEP DOING THIS!!! WHY DO WE ALWAYS SEPARATE!!!???”

“I- Don’t- Know-!” Adelmon said between each head-bob. “I- Can’t- Even- See- Where- We- Are-!”  Buddy stopped roughing up his Digimon, thinking quickly.

“Okay, we have to find the others, so…The Digivices! I can use mine to find the others!” He dropped the penguin Digimon and fished through his pockets until he found the device. “A-ha!” he pushed his finger to the screen. “That! That one’s the closest one to me! But the only problem is that the trees seem thickest that way, so maybe if I cut around them and went to the left I could get there easier. Hey, check it out! They must have seen us because they’re making a beeline straight for us. So, how am I supposed to let ‘em know about the trees? Oh, I’ll just move over here, and then they’ll come this way. But what if…”

While his partner rambled on, Adelmon stood and began dusting off his magenta and black feathers. He straightened the green coverings on his feet, then sighed and sat on a rock until Buddy’s ranting began to slow down.

“And then they can find me better, see? They’ve already turned this way. Now we’re just gonna have to wait.” He paused a moment. “I’m tired of waiting, let’s go meet ‘em.”

Adelmon sprang up as Buddy galloped out of the clearing. He made a flying leap for Buddy’s backpack and latched on, burying himself inside.

Whoa! He thought to himself, So that’s where he hid the chocolate! I was looking for that! He tore open the bag and began to munch as Buddy kept a steady pace.

He hurried on, eager to find the rest of his siblings before too long. He glanced back for a second and ran headlong into something. He and the other both fell over onto their backs. He lay there for a moment, than said, “ouch?”

“Darned right ouch…” came Adelmon’s voice from under him. The other person in front of him sat up and looked at his face.

“Is that all you can say for yourself?” she asked him.

Buddy stared back in horror at the girl. It was Évelyne, one of his sister’s friends that she had met online. (A/N: As the story goes, she mistook him for one of my other brothers, and he got really ticked off) Buddy screamed like a girl (A/N: for those of you who’ve seen it, think Johnny Bravo) and jumped up from the ground.

“NOOOO!!! Puh-leez! Anyone but HER!!!!” He cried to open space, Adelmon wriggling to get out of his confined, smushed space. Évelyne looked at him and snapped her fingers. "You're the annoying one, right?" Birdsimon stepped up as Buddy began to bang his head on a nearby tree.

Adelmon finally worked his way out and dropped to the ground, dusting himself off again. He gave his partner a sympathetic look and sat down.

Only one thing works to make Buddy realize me, he thought sadly. But it has to be done...

He began to wail and cry as loud as he could over Buddy's banging. He jumped and dashed to his little partner's side.

"What's wrong, what happened?" Buddy showed a little concern for his partner.

Adelmon put on his best show. "You're sad an' I don't know why an' that scares me cause I don't know what to do, an' it's just scary!!!"

Buddy suddenly lost his interest in Évelyne and picked up his partner gently. "It's okay Adel," he said.

      Beep beep! Beep beep!

His and Évelyne's digivices started beeping, faster and faster until they heard a small thud in the nearby bushes.

Frantic scrabbling began, and a voice began calling for random Digimon. Adelmon had lept in front of Buddy, and now took a step cautiously forward. "Hello?" he called.

“Ouch, Seth, that was my ear!” came the reply. A little red head poked out and looked at them.

“You guys aren’t Epiralmon, she commented, pawing her way out. The scuffling behind her continued, but she ignored it. “My name’s Riquemon; that’s not to be confused with Quiremon, Equirmon, or Aphlamon, okay?”

“Sorry?” Birdsimon looked at her oddly. “I’m not quite sure who you’re talking about.”

“That’s my bros. and sis. They’re back there with Seth.” She turned back around and began tugging at a long yellow and purple tail. “C’mon, Equirmon!”

“HEY, LEGGO!” Another Digimon, almost exactly the same, came out as Riquemon yanked him free.

Évelyne and Birdsimon went forward to help whoever was left out of the entanglement. They managed to pull out two more identical Digimon and a boy, holding yet another, from the bushes. He put down the Digimon and stretched forth his hand to them.

“Thanks so much; my name’s Seth.” Évelyne shook his hand, but Buddy ignored him; too busy watching the five perky Digimon around his feet. Each one was colored differently.

Seth seemed as if he were in a hurry, and turned to walk away. “ You guys- I’ve just gotten a message through Hapalmon there, so we’ve got to get moving. She’s a psychic type, and says that some of our friends are about to run into trouble. If you guys are coming, then hurry up- Equirmon, you’re the fastest.”

The yellow nodded. “Right! Equirmon, digivolve to- Sepikmon!”

Seth jumped on top of his Champion and offered a hand to all of his Digimon, then offered any one else a ride. Évelyne accepted, but Buddy declined.

   “Suit yourself. Lesgo!”

“Adelmon, you can go just as fast on ground as they can on air, so Digivolve!”

“Adelmon, Digivolve to- Macdernmon!” Buddy jumped up and spurred his partner on.

“Tania! Lina!” Lexxy waved as the two new girls came into the camp and were introduced to the others. Aleksimon watched from his vantage point on the cliff when someone came up behind him.

“So, Aleksimon. Enjoying your time with the Digi-destined?”

He spun about to face a black Digimon with wings who was grinning wickedly.

“Who’re you?” he growled, tightening up a bit.

“The name’s Donjemon. Of course, you won’t need to know that.”

Aleksimon suddenly felt himself becoming light-headed, and the ground spun under him until Donjemon rammed him in the side and he fell over, unconscious.
