In the Airport:

He sits across from me, busy reading his paper,

I sit here, killing time on my computer,

Two very different lives,

Two very different people,

He is in military uniform, I am in jeans and a T-shirt,

He keeps informed about the most recent news,

I keep informed on my friends lives,

His expression is solid, focused,

I sit here just smiling and taking in the new area,

He might be thinking about going to the physical war,

I think about the spiritual war that I fight,

We are brought up very differently, have different skills,

Yet...we are both soldiers, one way or another,

He seemed older than me, though maybe his profession has aged him,

I look and watch as he walks away,

He looks worried about the future,

I look forward to it,

He is too busy looking around him to notice me,

I’m content to take him in and try to figure him out,

Maybe one day our paths will cross again.
