The Great Actor

He's calm and collected on the outside,
Yet inwardly he's screaming,
His true feelings he was taught to hide,
With this painted shell is he even living?

Logic to him seems illogical,
And what is trust? He doesn't know,
This open expression of emotions are not in his protocol,
He's sooner slip away than let his feelings show,

Oh, but when he's called to perform he's ready to go,
Seemingly real and genuine reactions take place,
It would look natural, like actual emotions flow,
This is his element...his art through the expression on his face,

His audience needs not be while he's on stage,
A man like this delights in fooling the world,
While he traps his true self like a beast in a cage,
And his bag of tricks now unfurled,

Slowly it will change him,
He will become a different person over time,
His awareness of his own life will become dim,
Thus ends this tragic telling rhyme,
