"Reflection"

As the autumn leaves continue to fall and travel,

I look back on the past years of memories,

It’s warm today, not so windy, I walk among the gravel,

My mind is calm today, just as calm as the breeze,

So things are different now in this life,

I finally know how you really feel,

Though your answer hit me like a fiery knife,

Such a blow, I admit, did cause me to reel,

At least now I walk no longer in a life of “what if?”

The squirrels rummage about for the last few acorns,

The air smells more fresh today as I take a whiff,

No longer do I feel my Rose’s thorns,

As the sun sets over the mountains in the west,

I wonder what tomorrow holds in store,

All I know is that I’ll be doing my best,

And that now my thoughts and feelings are no longer at war.
