She gets out of her 1978 4WD Subaru and walks slowly on the path,
Her posture is slightly hunched and she seems to be agitated somehow,
I watch her intently as she moves steadily towards those swings,
By her appearance she seems to be about 19-22,
She gets to those swings and gently sets her purse down,
At first she lets out a sigh and sits there a moment,
Then she begins to rock back and forth,
Maybe this was the playground of her youth,
Maybe she needed an escape,
Or just maybe, maybe she was supposed to be here right now,
I see her tension begin to lift and she swings more,
Is it her long brown hair catching the breeze that easens her burden,
Or the feelings of height and speed that swings bring to us all?
As I ponder hese things she begins to smile,
Then at the start of the change she lets herself come back down,
No effort, just letting it happen,
She walks back to her 1978 4WD Subaru and looks my way,
I nod as she smiles and life goes back to what it was before,
The life off the swings, a much more serious life,
She just needed that time off the ground, away from the realities and stresses of it all,
A moment of freedom, a moment of serenity and peace.
