- Check the newspapers, days before the sales (which are usually Saturdays and Sundays, but can also be on Fridays.)
- Map all sales out ahead of time.
- Always carry street maps in your car.
- Write down sales, with times and directions to streets, in a notebook.
- Number and circle the sales in order.
- Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the sale starts.
- Carry empty boxes in your car and newspaper for packing.
- Negotiate - most of the time they will come down in price. Never be afraid to make an offer.
- "He who hesitates loses."; "The early bird gets the worm (or prize.)"
- Moving sales and estate sales are a must! (Bargains are possible.)
- Never overlook a small sale. It may have something there of value.
- If it's a huge sale, buy what you can carry and bring it back to your car. Then go back to see what you might have overlooked.
- Never overlook Thursday and Friday garage sales. They are around.
- If you see something that looks expensive, check it out. It might be cheaper than you thought. And sometimes they will go down in price.
- Often, you might get lower prices if you buy a large amount of items.
