Scene Change

Change the scenery!
A change is all that is needed.
If one were to drop another backdrop
Everything would be fine.

No one would know anything,
For everything would be new.
I do not like this scene anymore--
Fast forward to Act II.

This is a better Act.
Everything is better in what I haven’t seen.
Everything is better.
Now Scene III!

No, you do not come out yet--
It is not your cue.
You must stay hidden until Act II.
What? It is Act II?
Oh no, I’ve messed things up again.
Oh jeez--please skip to Act III.

No, no, no this isn’t right.
This act isn’t supposed to occur at night.
What a fright!
Do you mean to tell me,
By skipping Acts I and II,
I have changed Act III?

My actions affect the Acts?
I have some control?
No! That can not be!
I want Act III.
Give it to me!

Not this one--that one,
The one over there wrapped in plastic.
Take the play off the racks--
There is editing to be done.
No one wants a play,
In which what happens,
Depends on what you say!
Nay! Not a one.
