The final confrontation (for a while anyway as I am moving away from Japan so John [my only opponent for the majority of the battle reports up to this point] and I would not be able to play again for a long time) would be fought as a series of three battle.
Battle 1 would a Scouting Skirmish- a 1000 point meeting engagment using only troops with a MV of 6 or greater, or the ability to skirmish. The troops used did not have to be part of the main army [3000 points for use in the final battle]. The winner of this battle would be able to choose which side of the table they wanted for the final battle. Additionally, the loser would be forced to deploy his entire army before the winner began to deploy in the final battle.
Battle 2- After the scouts had met, each army set up a camp. A small pass which lead to the flank of what would be the site for the final battle. Each side could choose up to 1000 points from their final army to make up the flanking force. Any casualties suffered would carry over to the final battle. Any troops which fled, but were not killed could return to the main force. Whatever remained on the field of the winning force would be used as a flanking force in the final battle [appearing on turn 3 of the final battle].
Battle 3- 3000 points, subject to the results of battle 1 and 2.
Overall- Empire Battle Priests, The Company of the Lost, and Beastmen Herders (all found on this website in the additions section) could be used. Additionally, the optional rules for choosing retinues [Making Chaos More Chaotic] were allowed.
