Anyone who has ever passed through the Bone Forest and seen Fire Lake from the last cresting peak can tell you that this is not a place for anyone except dragons. The lake, sometimes quite plain, actually bubbles up from caverns at the base of Dragon Mountain. But when Dragon Mountain awakens, these springs are replaced by fountains of red. The entire lake boils swiftly and is filled with fiery lava. This perhaps happened once in a generation a time ago, but now it is a regular occurence. The citizens of Junction City can always tell when Fire Lake is boiling with earthen fire, because Fire River becomes little more than a dry riverbed. |
