Garnett's Game: Pump Faking

Garnett uses the pump-fakes a lot. Does he need it? Well, Yes and no. If his goal is to blow by a defender, then a pump-fake goes a long way. If he just wants to shoot a jumper, he's tall and long enough - not to mention having such a high release -- to be able to shoot over most anybody.

It is very, very rare for anyone to block a Kevin Garnett jumpshot. I don't think I've ever seen it done. Usually, then, KG pump fakes when he's looking to drive. His pump-fakes are pretty convincing, as he constantly gets defenders in the air. When he's near the basket, his use of the pump-fake increases even more -- often drawing a foul, which is a good thing.
