Born at The School House, Percy Road, South Hackney (now Kingshold Road). The school in question was probably associated with St. John's of Jerusalem the parish church (as the present school on the same site.)
The 1991 census shows Jane Ann Thordycraft was born Blackburn in 1846 (= Jane Ann Bolton b. Blackburn XXI 12 Sept. 1846. In 1891 she had become the St. John of Jerusalem school's caretaker. Her son in law presumably left the School House when she retired nearly 65 in 1910.
KWG though a layman was very active in Christian evangelism and preaching all his life. He is mentioned as "Gibbo" by the Rev. Nicky Gumble in an illustration in his celberated "Alpha" course now published and used throughout the world. His cousin Anstis was one of the founding members of the Girl's Crussaders.
