Khan is once again returning to the foray with another attempt at a
powerful role. In Puneet Issar´s "Garv"- Pride and Honor, Salman pairs
up with brother Sohail Khan and actress Shilpa Shetty (one of many roles
the two have coming up), in a film about justice and corruption. Joining
the long list of corrupt officer films, like Khakee, et al, Garv
revolves around three officers and their tribulations.
Officer Arjun Ranawat (Salman Khan), Hyder Ali (Arbaaz Khan)
and Samar Singh (Amrish Puri) are the officers in the Mumbai Task Team
force. They must join hands in battling the corruption that is overly
present in their police department and the city. They come together to
take down the underworld, but their plan backfires and as a result they
are overwhelmed with the obstacles they face
and that are thrown at them. To add more fuel to the fire, Arjun´s
family is targeted and they are attacked. This sets Arjun off on a
rampage as he loses control and decides that he should get revenge, even
if it he means he is not wearing his uniform.
Can Arjun conquer the underworld and save his family?
'Garv -
Pride & Honour' is another film based on the men in uniform and their personal
problems. It is the story of Mumbai police officers Arjun Ranavat (Salman Khan),
Samar Singh (Amrish Puri) and Hyder Ali (Arbaaz Khan). Shilpa Shetty plays
Arjun's love interest.
Under the supervision of Samar Singh, special task force officers Arjun Ranavat
and Hyder Ali are assigned a mission, to clean up the menace of the underworld.
This results in turmoil for the underworld and also for their patrons in the
political circle, thus disrupting their normal activities.
To tone down Arjun, the underworld targets his mother (Farida Jalal) and sister
(Akanksha). When Arjun seeks support from legal quarters but receives neither
support nor help, he decides to shed his police uniform and take up arms to
fight his own battle, with his own methods.
Will Arjun be successful in his pursuits and achieve his objectives? Will Hyder
Ali help him? The answer to these questions takes one to the thumping action
climax of the 15 crore 'Garv -Pride & Honour '.
B.R Chopra's epic television serial earned him the fame as 'Duryodhana'- the sinister son. Puneet Issar after playing bad man in many movies toyed with the idea of directing and came his debut tele-serial Jai Mata Ki starring Hema Malini moving on to films Issar is set to release his debut feature Garv - Pride and Honour with the Khan brothers viz., Salman and Arbaaz.
The crux of the film is not very different from a horde of cop movies churned simultaneously (Aan, Bardaasht, Police Force and many more). The svelte Shilpa Shetty who is paired opposite Salman Khan did not have any release last year.
The story:
Police Officers Arjun Ranawat (Salman Khan) and Hyder Ali (Arbaaz Khan) and their leader Samar Sing (Amrish Puri) constitute a special team designed to wipe corruption, their battle is to take on underworld and banish the menacing forces from the face of the country. Their work is not easy and to execute their plans they have to frequently venture outside the confines prescribed by the law. Arjun visits a bar to keep a watchful eye on the criminal activities where he meets and falls in love with a sexy bar dancer (Shilpa Shetty).
As it is often said a cop's life is a double-edged sword, which might bruise of not handles with care and this is what happens with Arjun Ranawat. Seeing Arjun's formidable advancements the enemy threatens the life of his mother (Farida Jala) and sister (Akansha)… Spitting blood devastated Arjun declares war and then…
Garv has all the supplies of ingredients needed to make a perfect pot-boiler now it is for us to see how good is Salman in his new 'avataar' as a angry young cop?
Garv is slated to release in the last week of June 2004.
