Normal ladder play - almost all remaining nights with one G/90 ladder game per night - the club ladder is maintained similar to hockey standings. Following the fall Swiss the ladder season begins with every player having zero points in zero games. One point is awarded for a win, 1/2 for a draw and zero for a loss. The ladder is sorted in descending order by total points scored for the season. Each ladder night people sign up by 7:45 PM to play on the ladder, the games are paired and play starts at 8 PM. The pairings are done with number one on the ladder playing number two, three playing four, etc. except that you play at least two different ladder opponents before being paired again on the ladder with a person. Any junior (under 18) that is paired has the option of changing the normal G/90 time control to G/60. Players draw for colors every game.
Many players do off-hand play after their serious ladder game is over.

Theme ladder nights - similar to normal ladder play with the exception that every game will start with the same opening that was determined the week before. There are three per year.
