RVing The USA

December 2000

Dec 2 we held the last of our garage sales. It was fairly successful considering the weather wasn’t that great. What didn’t sell was destined for the Salvation Army and Goodwill.

Dec 6 we loaded the things that Lisa & Troy spoke for into a trailer and made the trek to Pierre, SD. We didn’t get as early of a start as we had hoped so we stayed overnight in Valentine, NE. We arrived in Pierre about noon. Troy had taken the day off so we unloaded the trailer and truck and helped them setup the furniture. The dining room furniture really looked nice in their dining area.

On the 8th we left Pierre for a visit to our good friends Hank & Marie Aase in Norfolk, NE. On the way to Norfolk we stopped in Sioux Falls in order to establish SD as our permanent residence. We registered with Alternative Resources for a mail address and then proceeded to the county courthouse to get a SD Drivers License and register our vehicles. We weren’t able to register to vote as SD requires that you spend the night someplace in SD that has a permanent address (motel or campground). All in all it was a painless process. We arrived on Norfolk about 6 pm. Marie had invited the folks that we went to Costa Rica with to review the pictures that everyone took and to rehash the good time we had there.

On Saturday we left Norfolk for a Christmas get together with Gary’s family at his sister and bro-in-law Judy and Don Rullo in Columbus. We had a good time and everyone had plenty to eat.

On Sunday the 10th, we went Lindsay for Kathy’s family Christmas get together. Again we had a good time with plenty to eat. There was a winter storm threatening so we left for the Springs about 3:30 p.m. We encounterd some flurries but we arrived home without incident about midnight.
