Here is some things about my family and I. My parents are Allen Wayne Smith Sr., he was born April 10, 1925. My mother, Alice Cathrine Conley was born on July 9, 1928. They were married July 7, 1947 and had 5 kids, Joyce Ann, born January 8, 1950. Allen Wayne Jr., born August 6, 1953. Richard Dewey, born June 30 1958. My Twin brother, Larry Lee and I were born two months premature on October 19, 1960

My Father had problems with Rheumatic fever, he had heart troubles until his death May 14, 1962. He died while having reconstruction heart surgery in Colorado Springs Colorado.

After my father's death my mother went back to college and finished her college and got a Masters degree in special education.

I lived half of my childhood in Lincoln, Illinois, the other half was on my Great Grandfather William Carroll's 80 acre farm, about seven miles west of Lincoln. I loved living in the country, and I miss it a lot.

On August 8, 1978 I had a terrible car wreck, I crashed into a telephone pole. I went through the windshield, which broke my neck from the impact. I broke my neck between the C partial 3-4 vertebraes. A doctor I talked to a few years back, told me they didn't expect people with spinal cord injuries like mine, to live no more than seven years, and now it has been almost 29 years ago since I broke my neck. August 8, 2007 will be 29 years!

I had a dear friend, Stacey Cook, I went to high school with her, I was a couple years ahead of her in school. She was in a very bad car wreck in January of 1980, she broke her neck as high as anyone could break it. Her break was so high, they called it the hang-man's break! She died seven years later, in the early part of 1987. Fortunately, she gave her heart to the Lord a few years before her death. I miss her a lot!

When I started school I first went to Chester East Community Grade school until my fourth grade in school. Then my family moved out into the country east of Lincoln, there I went to Beason Grade School until I graduated eighth grade. At Lincoln Community High school I tended my first three years of high school. During the summer vacation in 1978 is when I had my car accident.

Before my wreck I was a typical teenager that liked to party. I also smoked cigarrettes, up to two or three paks a day, (I know that's pretty bad!) Unfortunately I also was into smoking marijuana and hashish, plus I drank beer and/or whiskey often on the weekends.

After my wreck my lungs filled up with congestion and they put a trache tub in my throat so they could suction out the congestion. My lungs were messed up bad from all the smoking I did, it took them from August to November to clear my lungs out.

I spent my rehabilatation at Memorial Medical Center (MMC) in Springfield, IL from mid September 1978 to late January of 1979. During my stay there I had the pleasure of meeting Joann Adcock who was a resperatory therapist (RT) on staff there. Her and I have become very good friends ever since then, and I love her dearly!

I lived with my mom and Larry for a few months in 1979, then went into the hospital that July for occupational re-evaluation. I stayed in Mercy hospital in Champain, IL until my release in late August, they decided I should be placed into a nursing home. I moved back to Springfield and was placed into a nursing home there. During my stay in this nursing home I caught double pneunonia and was admitted to the hospital on the ICU floor, under guarded condition (which is pretty bad). Dr Eagleton was my pulmonary doctor, he told me that I was going to be fine, and wanted to know what I thought if he wanted to put me on a respirator, or do a tracheostomy on me. I told him to do what ever he thought was best. He told me again that I would be fine, then he left my room and went to talk with my mother. Mom told me that he told her that he doesn't work miricles! But Praiise God the Lord does! After I was taken off of the resiprator, the RT staff told me that Dr. Eagleton did not expect to live through my first night, yet alone through the whole ordeal! Glory to God!!! After I had my 19th birthday in MMC I decided not to go back into the nursing home I was in. The social worker Rachel found another nursing home in Prophetstown Illinois, with people my age living there. The name of the nursing home in Prophetstwon is Winning Wheels it had not been open very long, it was a nursing home that was built especially for taking care of people in wheelchairs. The people that organized the building of Winning Wheels were handicapped individuals. I moved to Prophetstown in November of 1979, I was the 12th person to live there at Winning Wheels. I lived there until August of 1981. I went to Prophetstown high school to finish my schooling, I graduated in the spring of 1981.

I met Sharon Mikles, her maiden name is Long in June 1981 and we started dating each other. Sharon had applied for a job there at Winning Wheels, Sharon is a Certified Nurse's Aide, and she did get hired to work there. Sharon and I hadn't dated very long, I think it was about two weeks we had been dating, when I asked her if she would like to have a long term engagement with me. I did not know at the time, that Sharon just went through a divorce in 1979, and she told me she would think about it, and when she gave me her answer, she did accept my marriage proposal. I do not remember if I told Sharon about what I am getting ready to say next, because I have not told very many people about this. One day I was waiting for Sharon to come to work. I was sitting in the entryway to the dining room, waiting for her to come in through the back doors, to the employee parking lot. When I saw her come in I watched Sharon walk up the hallway to the dining room. When she came into the dining room area, I heard the Lord say, "she is the one." I did not realize then, but after I got to know the Lord, I know now it was the Lord telling me that Sharon was the one He had for me. I had always dated with the intention of marrying whomever I dated, and the Lord let me know Sharon was right woman that God had for me.

I never pressured Sharon for a wedding date, but one day when I was in the hospital Sharon started asking me, when were going to get married. So I told her I would get my blood work for a marriage license done, and so did she, and we made arrangements to get married that following Sunday. I had to get a weekend pass from the hospital for our wedding. On March 6, 1982 Sharon and I were married in the Nazarene Church in Lincoln, Illinois. We moved into Friendship Manor a apartment building there in Lincoln, and then three years later we were blessed with a beautiful daughter Alicyne Irene. I was so proud looking at my new born baby, I was so happy that I cried tears of joy. Now it has been 22 years later, and it does not seem like it has been that long ago since her birth. Sharon and I were married for almost 16 years, but unfortunately we were divorced on December 8, 1997. I still love her very much, but I hope she is happy with her life.

In the September 1996 my sodium level (don't ask me what a sodium level is, all I know is a body has one) in my body had gotten dangerously low. A normal sodium level is between 140 to 120, and a dangerous level for a sodium level is between 110 to 100. Mine had gotten down to 96. My doctor told me that there wasn't anybody on record that has been known to have lived through having a sodium level that low before. I wonder if I am the first?

You may wonder how or why I have survived all of this? The answer is God's hand protected me! I have always believed that the Lord Jesus Christ was the Lord God Almighty. But I ignored Him thoughout my life with my own wreckless living. Jesus kept reaching out to me, and He finally got my attention on July 1, 1982. That is when I invited Jesus into my heart as Saviour and Lord. It was on July 1, 1982 was my first going to my church there in Lincoln. And on that night the Pastor asked if anyone "wanted to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues." I had never heard of tongues before, all I knew was if it meant getting closer to God, then I wanted it. So did go up to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, I didn't have the evidence of tongues that night, but the following day after Sharon got me up in my wheelchair, I asked her to prop up my bible on some pillows on my lap. I held a wooden spoon in my mouth to turn the bible's pages, it had an earacer on the end of the handle. I started looking through the Scriptures to see what the bible said about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and the gift of speaking in tongues. The night before, when I first received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, I can only speak what it seemed like one syllable of what ever the language I had, so I started speaking with the little I had [that was the following day after reading the Scriptures] then I started flowing with the gift of speaking in tongues. It is not required to be saved, but I don't know why some people are so against speaking in tongues. I know some people that think it is from the devil, and as long as they believe that, they will never have any authority that the Lord gives to a born again, Spirit filled believer.

The Lord has shown Himself to be to me, to be, the loving, caring Father I have always wanted, but as God, He has shown me that His word is ever lasting, and nothing on earth can stand against Him!

Sometime in 1985 the Lord shown me two visions, they both have the same meaning. They are both of the time and place of when the Lord will heal me. The Lord has told me, that in that time and place that "I will send My Son to you, and He WILL pick you up by yours hands and raise you to your feet, and you shall shout praises in My Name for I AM worthy." The Lord has confirmed EVERYTHING He has both told me, and shown me throughout the years. Another thing the Lord told that confirms what He has promised me is "I will come to you in the form of flesh, and you shall stand, you shall stand, you shall stand, the waist places are broken, but they shall be rebuilt." The Lord told me that sometime in mid 1997.

These bible verses back up everything the Lord has told me.

I am currently living in a nursing home named Meadow Manor, in Taylorville Illinois. I placed myself into the facility, on March 14, 2004. I do like living here it is a nice place, and I have made a lot of new friends. As you can see, I have been here for a little over three years now.

Last June 7, 2004 is when my granddaughter Kaylea Ann Ingram was born. She is truly a blessing, from God!

I am very thankful to the Lord for everything He has brought me through, and how the Lord taught me how to handle the difficulties we all have in life.
