I just wanted to share an encounter I saw concerning Robin. Back in August the GG were playing in Flagstaff, Arizona for a Cardinal Function. It was held at a park and there was only one picnic table, I had arrived a few hours early not knowing what time they were to play. Sitting at the picnic table was an old bag lady, she loves Arizona, the Cardinals and anything else that has to do with the state. Not knowing who the Gas Giants were in the coarse of our conversation I explained about the Gin Blossoms, P2K and the recent name change to Gas Giants. She goes "I know those young men they must be out of Tempe, I think I will stick around and see them play."
We sat there for another hour, and it began to get dark still the band hadn't taken the stage. Behind the stage was a fenced off area and you could see Robin and Phillip moving around doing different things there was another band playing at the time. Keep in mind this little old lady was in dirty worn out clothes didn't have very many teeth and had an odor about her. To talk to her you had to lean in because she spoke softly and couldn't hear. I had pointed Robin out to her, he was behind the fence in the restricted area. My little new found friend (maybe she was 4'11) decided she could wait no longer it was getting dark and she had to make her way home. First she wanted to give her respects and apologize for not staying to see them play. Taking her cane she hobbled over, behind the fence and approached Robin. He placed his arm around her shoulders and leaning in so he could hear her they had quite a conversation. I thought 'what a kind man' there are few people in this world that will spare the time to talk to someone who looks homeless, and smells bad but there he stood, arm around her shoulders making her feel important. I will always be impressed with that act of kindness, I think that is Robin's true colors.
