LAGONDA

3 LITRE SALOON AND DROP-HEAD COUPE 1959 - 60

As a diversion from cutting tractor gears, David Brown made many fine cars in the form of Aston Martins and Lagondas.

The qualities and standards so long associated with Lagonda have been sustained and nourished over many years. In a world of narrowing scope for personal skills and enthusiasms, the Lagonda commends itself as a rare example of individual endeavour in automobile practice. The designer's flair, the engineer's science, the craftsman's art . . . all, in due and just proportion, find their true expression in this beautiful car. Thus it is that the David Brown Lagonda overshadows even its own illustrious forbears. Here is a car of aristocratic dignity and thoroughbred performance.

Elegance and luxury characterises all the body forms of the Lagonda. The superbly appointed 4-door Tickford Saloon interprets all that is most desirable in fine closed coachwork.

The balance and proportions of the Drophead Coupe, with its pure and fluid lines, approach perfection. Yet it might almost be said that the Lagonda is a contradiction in terms; for it combines the grace and docility of the town carriage with the surging power and acceleration of the high performance sports car.
Even at a speed of 100 m.p.h. the Lagonda remains well-mannered, supremely comfortable, smooth and flexible. This impeccable behaviour at all speeds is all the more remarkable when it is born in mind that the Lagonda is powered by the famous 3 litre, 6 cylinder twin overhead camshaft David Brown engine. It has been quoted that the performance of the 3 litre is higher than that of the immediately pre-war V-12 model, which had an engine capacity of 4.5 litres.
