Wesley Lewis Battle, 2nd Lieutenant, Co. D

Wesley Lewis Battle enlisted as a Corporal in the 43rd NC Infantry.  On 15 Jan 1863 he was commissioned into "D" Co. of the 37th NC Infantry.  He was wounded and captured at the battle of Gettysburg, PA on 3 Jul 1863.  His left arm was amputated the same day.  He died from his wounds on 22 Aug 1863 at Gettysburg, PA.

Promotions: He was promoted to 3rd Lieutenant on 15 Jan 1863.  No date listed for promotion to 2nd Lieutenant.

He also had service in:
