John T. Forrester, 2nd Lieutenant, Co. F

John T. Forrester, who was a 21 year-old farmer from Wilkes County, NC, enlisted on 24 Sep 1861 at Wilkes County, NC as a Corporal.  On 20 Nov 1861 he mustered into "F" Co. 37th NC Infantry.

He was wounded at Ox Hill, VA on 1 Sep 1862.  He returned to duty on 15 Oct 1862.  He was captured by the Federals at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 Dec 1862 and exchanged on 17 Dec 1862.   He was wounded and captured at Gettysburg, PA on 3 Jul 1863.  He was hospitalized at David's Island, NY Harbor on 17 Jul 1863.  He was transferred to Johnson's Island, OH on 18 Sep 1863.  He was paroled at Johnson's Island, OH on 24 Feb 1865 and transferred to City Point, VA for exchange.  No further records.

Promotions:
He was promoted to Sergeant on 15 May 1862.
He was promoted to 3rd Lieutenant on 1 Feb 1863.
He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 9 Oct 1863.
