The computer has the ability to make our world seem smaller, our vision broader, and our mind more open.  Just by clicking "Send", we can communicate with our "neighbors" on the other side of the world in seconds, for free!  We can view far away lands, as if we were right there.  We have gone from pen and pencil, to typewriter, to word processing because of programs developed by Bill Gates.
It was once rare to own a PC, now almost every school and every home in America has one or more computers.  Where we once played with board games, we now have 2-player (or more) interaction on a PC.  In the classroom, we have gone from one teacher, to one teacher plus many hands-on educational programs.  Students now have the ability to share ideas and information with students across the country and oceans.  Computers and software have taken tedious, boring learning and made it fun and innovative.
Our era will be known as the age of technology and cyber-space.  It is amazing to think that much of the technology that we have today is because of computer software and operating  systems that developed in the mind of a 14 year old "boy-wonder" from Seattle, Washington.  It shows what can happen when you persevere with your dreams.
Bill Gates says, " the computer is the most dramatic medium that has ever existed".
And as Microsoft's current slogan says:  "The Best Is Yet To Come!"
