A Healthy PC

Header

It is very important in our daily lifes to maintain our health to it's highest. We take precautions against flus, bugs and colds to prevent large doctor bills..................Well the same can apply to your computer. We need to be sure we are keeping it Healthy. Below you will see a few tips that should help maintain your pc.

I am sure most everyone has some kind of virus protection on their system. If you don't, GTF would suggest you check into some of the free ones that are offered on the net. Below you will see just a few.

AVG Free Virus Protection
Virus Protection ~ Email Only
AntiVir For Windows

Now let's say someone sends you a virus alert....You need to always check the source of it before you delete files off your computer. There are some notifications that are hoaxes. Below you will see a link that you can go to and then in the search button type in the file that you have been warned about. If it should be a virus and you have checked your pc to see if it exists on your computer, this is also a good link to help you remove it from your pc.

Symantec Search For Hoaxes and Viruses

There are also allot of sites on the net that offer free scanning of your pc to detect viruses. Even if you have a virus protection on your computer, I feel it is wise, once a month to go to another scanning program and scan your system. It is sad to say but there are people that are considered Hackers that have set a goal to get and infect as many as they can. They spread trojans, viruses, and worms. So keep your virus protection updated and also use one of the below to check your files. You know the saying

"Better Safe Than Sorry"

Panda Scan
Norton Free Virus Scan
PC Pitstop

Another way to keep your computer healthy is to do a regular defrag on it. That you can find under:

start/programs/accessories/systems

It may take a while but this will compact the files and help your computer to run faster and smoother.

Always be careful when you open attachments. This is the major way that viruses are received. If you are not sure whom the individual is that has sent you mail----then I would suggest-------DELETE

We at Gateway To Friendship hope that we have helped you in some way.

Take care and God Bless.
