Digimon, the TV Show, can really play with your emotions if you let it. I've seen plenty movies 7 times better than Digimon the Movie, but the TV show is like nothing I've ever seen. The only problem with digimon is that a person can't just jump into the middle of the story and understand what's going on (atleast I can't). It's like a book (probably even more complex than a book) with every episode like another chapter in the story. I love the complexness of it in that it is amazing how it continually connects with past events sometimes not even in the same season and most of the time, not a flashback. If you watch ahead then you loose suspense, although you may still get that mindboggling feeling and other feelings at the end of an episode that I think are unexplainable. The writers obviously planned out Season one and two of Digimon before they ever completed the first episode. The best episodes tend to be at the end of each season, so in order to get the full expierience of Digimon you must watch every episode in consecutive order.
Getting your emotions played with, and the complexness of it isn't the only reason I like Digimon. The unique morals of the show are outstanding. I'm 18 (as I'm writing this) and I've learned a lot from this show. Whoever writes it seems to be obviously a Christian (Atleast that's the way I feel. If you want to know why I think this read the reply I wrote to entry 3 of my guest book in my Digimon comment dated May 11,2003. This page isn't the place for that. Anyway...). Somehow the writers teach (expecially) the importance of life, have plenty other morals, have digital monsters, make it interesting, really play with your emotions and create a complex, interlocking story. It just plain baffels me how someone could come up with a show like this. It's a shame that some people think it's a rip-off of Pokemon, when the only thing similar is that both shows have a variety of different-looking creatures, with different attacks that can become other different creatures with different names. It's also a shame that some people judge it after a watching a couple random episodes because they don't understand the entire storyline. I think everyone in the world should see Digimon, whether in the 4th grade or 99 years old.
PS. I think knowing what a catalyst is, expierience on the internet, and maybe a tad bit of a computer science background will help you better understand season three. S4's different but I like it just the same.
I know I'm not the only one with my emotions played by Digimon because I have a friend who lives a couple miles away who has watched every episode of Digimon just as I have. We met each other though Church during the summer before the start of season 3. She's called me after almost every episode of Digimon Season 3 because it's so intense. In some of the most depressing moments of the show, she said that she had laughed about 8 times which reminded me that I had laughed in those same places through those depressing moments. I wonder how the writers did that. We have also had almost an identical feeling after each episode. There are a couple episodes that seem like a regular TV show in that no strong emotions are felt. The beginning of season 2 and 3 are slow. Some episodes in the 2nd half of Season 3 were awsome and the end of season 2 was just incredable. I like season one thoughout. If there is anyone else that feels the same way my friend and I do on any of this I'd like to know.
Before Digimon all I ever had was a list of favorite TV shows. I didn't make Digimon my favorite TV show until the end of season 2. After Season 2, it just topped any TV show or movie I'd ever seen. Since then I've tried to see if any movie could beat it. (In my opinion: )At first, I only found 'The Majestic' to come close, but then I found 'The Matrix Reloaded' to be Digimon's equal! Matrix Revolutions was so awsome that the Matrix trilogy seems better than Digimon at the moment. To understand Revolutions you have to know the Bible. I don't think anything could top the Matrix trilogy (although I didn't care for the first movie of the trilogy). Anyway, I just love Digimon the TV show so much...I would like to explain it to the whole world... that everyone should watch Digimon. I feel the same way about the Matrix trilogy and I'll soon add a page with my explanation of Revolutions. Reloaded and Revolutions are the best movies ever made, and Digimon is the best tv show ever made!! (atleast for me) :)
