This was my very first attempt at fan fiction, and is slightly 'Mary Sue', although that wasn't my intention at all when I wrote it. It was a kind of therapy, actually. About a year previous, my father passed away after a brief battle with cancer. He was in a lot of pain, but was denied certain drugs because he was terminal. I hoped that by ST's time, the medical profession would be more open to helping the patient, no matter what that entailed. This story explores the issue of euthanasia, specifically. In it, Dr. Bashir is reunited with the doctor who beat him out for valedictorian at Starfleet Medical Academy. Is she simply ill, or insane? |
A Bajoran science vessel goes through the wormhole on a simple fact-finding mission, and returns hours later with no life signs. Never posted elsewhere. This story contains graphic descriptions of horrific events. You'll be thankful I don't illustrate! |
An outbreak of an unusual illness requires that the two Cardassians, Garak and Ziyal, be put in quarantine together. And when Gul Dukat shows up to speak with her, he reveals a secret that forces them to re-evaluate their relationship. |
After being lost during a training cruise in a shuttlecraft, Jake Sisko is found nearly frozen to death on an outer planet. Investigating the cause of the the crash proves a challenge, until they find the key in the journal Jake kept while he awaited rescue. |
This story came about after the Cardassians retook the station on DS9. I felt they had an excellent opportunity for some real drama, and a chance to show how valuable Odo could be. They didn't take this route, though they had a similar situation. On the show, Rom became imprisoned for sabotage and threatened with execution, and his friends basically storm security and get him out with phaser fire. Boring!! I imagined that Kira would be captured sabotaging the station and sentenced to die. Can anyone save her life? How much are her friends willing to do to save her? |
Writing this story was a very strange experience. After getting the general idea, the entire story was plotted in my mind over the course of a single day. I knew everything that was going to happen before I wrote a single word, and that's never happened before. I didn't have to go back and change anything to accommodate something I'd just written. The story takes place immediately after Jadzia's death and involves Sisko, Jake, Shakaar, and Kira in a mysterious quest on Bajor. |
This story was published in Outpost 9, copyright 1998, and has become available for posting here. The Cardassians want Garak back. Badly. Why? And to what lengths will they go to obtain him? It's up to Sisko and Bashir to stop the Cardassians from succeeding, with the unexpected help of an unlikely ally. |
