I began my love affair with dogs at the age of 13 when I got a Border Collie named Nellie. I trained her in obedience and we participated in 4-H together. About 6 years later I got my first "show" dog in 1990-- a Rottweiler by the name of Azarias Rose I do Impressem, CGC "Piggy". I showed her in conformation for 6 years and trained her in obedience and schutzhund. I bred her to Am/Can. Ch. Bryloukis Great Expectations, CD, and Am/Can CH Doubledee's Alternate Choice, CD, BH, SCH III in the early 90's and kept several of the puppies, who have since passed on. I got burnt out on the Rottweiler breed because of all the overbreeding by ignorant people out to make a buck, so in 1995 I began the search for MY perfect breed. After a year, I had decided on a Staffordshire Bull Terrier because of their rather rare status (only about 800 registered per year with the AKC) and because I wanted a strong, athletic dog, but I wanted one smaller than a Rottweiler (with less coat, too!!) and I also wanted a dog that was famous for it's love of children. I finally found a breeder that I was very happy with in 1997 and the rest is history! Very tragically, Tonka was stolen from our lives on November 14th, 2001. We searched frantically for him for many years and still hold a flicker of hope that he may return home to us someday. We finally were able to add another Stafford to our lives this year and are in the process of getting another stafford bitch as a foundation for our kennel. We will strive to produce a Stafford who looks great and is athletic and healthy, as well as having the correct "nanny dog" temperament. Our family consists of myself, my husband Doug and our 2 sons, Gavin & Jaxon. I have worked as a veterinary technician and an animal control officer, although now I am a domestic engineer (a stay-at-home mom!!). My time is spent raising my sons, Gavin & Jaxon...... ![]() ....and playing with and training the dogs. Up until now, I have only shown in conformation, but I am going to be venturing into rally, obedience & weight pull. If you'd like to see more pictures of Tonka and Gavin together, Click Here. |
