Description: The VB Developers’ tool, made in VB with
features like a code repository, a utility to generate code for Access
databases, article repository with a complete RTF text editor, wizards and
other valuable Visual Basic tools. The project has been well received and
we plan to put the project on the Internet for free downloads.

Network
Description: The project aims
at providing a platform for the alumni of our institute to look up the
information of, and locate their respective classmates, through a website
supporting features such as search and updating of information. The
application has a three-tier distributed architecture – the front end has
been done in HTML/DHTML, the back-end in MS Access and servlets have been
used on the server side as the middle tier.

a menu driven software built in VB with features like maintenance of
customer accounts and tools to make, maintain, retrieve and delete

Title: TCP Performace
Enhancemebnts Over Wireless : Study/Implementation
Description: The project
involved studying various schemes used to improve TCP performace over
wireless networks. Snoop Protocol was found to achieve maximum improvement
in theory. It was chosen for implementation and the improvements achieved
were analysed for the parameters used for comparison.

Description
:
Worked with the Networking and Telecommunication group. Specifically,
researched the Networked PABX domain. Research included understanding of
the issues and protocols involved in the convergence of voice and data
using specialised devices.
Deliverable: A write up and a
white paper on the domain, which addressed the technical issues involved,
Standards and protocols used. A tutorial and presentation were also
included to aid in understanding of the domain.
Attended a training session on Networking and
Internetworking.
Received training
on programming in the UNIX environment and completed an assignment of 20
programs on signals, files, IPC and sockets.

Student Record Management
System
The project is a utility to
maintain student records at an academic institution. File I/O using C/C++
was studied and used to provide a console-based utility with features such
as addition, deletion, searching, updating and viewing of student records.

Software game
“pkMan”
The game is played by moving
a player through a maze of hazards, picking up points as it does so. The
game is made in C++ and is fully developed in graphics mode using various
graphics and user made functions.

IPC in
Unix
Various IPC mechanisms were
studied. Shared memory was used to achieve communication between two
processes. Semaphores were used for synchronisation.
Technical

Co-authored a review paper on
GPRS(General Packet Radio Service). The paper contrasts GPRS with the
existing GSM technology and discusses its applications and future
prospects.

at the IEEE and IETE sponsored Annual National Level Open Software
Competition ‘Kriti’ during DITECH 2001 – the annual technical festival of
Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology.
