20 what is known is that the group split from their manager earlier in the year and are now managing themselves. also known is that they are planning to do some gigs in the u.s.a., mexico, and asia as a three-piece group. russia may be on the cards late in the year. they kicked off this world tour by performing in melbourne on june 25. on the release front i've noticed a release of tokyo under their dirty fours moniker, working with luke chable. an official nubreed website, done by the boys, was due to surface around april but i assume is still ongoing. as always please drop me an email if you have any news. the address is nubreed@gavinstok.com |

17 speaking of awards, nubreed were last night nominated in australia's aria (australian record industry association) awards for best dance release for the original. the awards will be on october 17. 08 i've redesigned the site a little. all dj & live gigs can now be accessed from the main table of contents instead of the discographies section. they're also now listed in reverse chronological order so the latest gigs are first. it all seems to make sense, to me at least! 07 this is their only known melbourne date for the rest of 2004 so worth checking out. they're playing a 1 hour live set for the opening of the ben sherman store at the new gpo site, located on the corner of little bourke & elizabeth street. also on the night will be ben sherman giveaways and nubreed will sign posters and their cd booklet. the fun starts at 7pm. see the press release in the press section for full details. |

28 the u.k. release of one day has been well received. it peaked at #13 on the cool cuts chart (the u.k.'s leading tastemaker dance chart), charted in the top 100 of the u.k. mainstream singles chart, and top 10 in the u.k. dance sales singles chart. the magazines were also impress. m8 magazine made it single of the month, and the track is about to be on a world-wide released DJ compilation by a 'superstar DJ' (should be easy for you to work out!). as promised nubreed are going global! they're currently in asia, will be in new zealand in august, then they're heading towards the u.k., europe, u.s.a., canada, and south america from september through roughly november. exact destinations and dates are forthcoming. australians don't despair - they will be doing gigs in in n.s.w. in july and august. all known dates are in the dj & live sets section of the discography, and will be updated regularly. next single from the album is to know. everything i know is in the discography. under their house alias dirty fours expect a double a-side called breathless / machines and a remix of yet another mfa track soon. finally look out for the july 2004 edition of international dj magazine. it has a feature on 'future breaks' with nubreed mentioned amongst many other australian artists. |

28 in sad news the newest member of nubreed, dave norris, was in a bad accident earlier this month and is currently out of action for at least a few months. he's currently in a halo brace due to two fractures in his neck. we all wish him a speedy recovery. in lighter news, one day should now be out on vinyl in the u.k. full details in the discography. after their break nubreed will play as a three-piece in taipei (yes that's asia people!) on july 16, and hong kong on july 17. they last played perth on june 19. finally, spotted today, a little e-card for their album release in australia. see it here. |

26 promotional only cdr's of one day should be in the hands of radios and dj's by now, so get cracking on requesting it from your favourites. australians will be intersted to know that the music video is being done by the same team who did the toohey's new beer ad involving the tongue that leaves a man's mouth while he's sleeping and travels across town to get him a beer from the bathtub at a party. people outside australia probably think right now that our ads are crazy!! many of you will also be interested to know that the track listing for cd2 of the original is now available in the discography section. two press releases have also been added to the press section, one of which details that they will tour to support the new album. 05 melbourne residents going to two tribes on sunday march 07 will be interested to know that nubreed will be playing. a late inclusion, they will play at 10pm for an hour, followed by hybrid, and then bt. what a trio! enjoy the night. 04 first single? one day of course. but there's a catch! it will only come out on 12" to start with. so no cd single unless it gets some radio attention. that means you, yes you, need to request the song! a music video is currently being done for it too. |

30 nubreed become four! expanding their line up, nubreed now has dave norris as a permanent member of the group. known from his work with db chills, expect to see him working on drum machines for all new material and at all live gigs. based on their set from the 26th mentioned below this is going to raise the boys' music a notch and a half! nubreed's contribution to the soundtrack one perfect day is a new track called to know. the soundtrack should be out about now in australia through universal records. the movie has its own website. the australian and new zealand release date for the original double cd is now the 1st week of april. all the tracks from the u.k. version will appear spread over the two cd's, as will 4 new tracks. phil k will do remixing honours on the 2nd cd. artwork for the album is currently being finalised and will be done by james greenaway. he is well known in melbourne for his fractured flyers. finally, jase of nubreed and dan mangan did a new dj set for annie nightingale's bbc radio one show. see the discography for details. 28 26 |
