nubreed have consistently set the pace in australia, thanks in no small part to their amazing ability to deliver a show to a club culture audience that packs in all the dynamic energy and showmanship you’ve come to expect from a great rock band.
coupled with their awesome songwriting and production skills, this has established
nubreed as the leading, most progressive exponents of an influential and rapidly expanding global scene. But then, this was always their objective…
‘absolutely awesome’ - hybrid (u.k.)
jase, db & mykel (the nubreed collective) have distilled some 40 years of collective musical experience into
nubreed’s debut album entitled the original. their philosophy of the “style of no style” is finally defined on this epic journey of filmic soundscapes, superb songwriting and cranking urban derived rhythms.
mykel from NuBreed explains - “we incorporate all styles to define our own, not settling for the doctrines set by others”.
joining them in the studio for this album were production luminaries andy page (programming genius behind the likes of
sasha & bt), luke chable and special guests koolism.
helping to further bridge the gap between live electronic act and full live band,
nubreed are delighted to announce a brand new live show format with the addition of
sydney drummer, percussionist, turntablist & programmer dave “jizz”
norris (formerly of db chills fame and drummer for wicked beats sound system).
dave’s credentials are pages long and his skills simply must be witnessed to be believed (just don’t ask him to sing!).
‘nubreed are one of our favorite breakbeat acts, they are without a doubt one of the most inspiring acts out of
australia’ – the crystal method (u.s.a.)
nominated for 3 dma's (dance music awards) in 2002 for best debut artist, best
live act and best new release, and nominated for best live act again at last year's awards,
nubreed already have a supreme reputation for one of the most dynamic live shows in
australia. in the u.k. last year they were nominated for best new artist at the
breakspoll awards (presented by bbc radio one) and came 2nd in that category.
long feted by the likes of adam freeland, hybrid, sasha, bt, way out west &
timo maas, nubreed are at the centre of a strong melbourne scene. together they have chalked up an impressive remix
cv, with international artists tiësto & junkie xl (aka jxl – the genius behind the
elvis presley remix of a little less conversation), scritti politti, way
out west, apex, skunk anansie, and most recently the u.s.a.’s crystal method.
they were top 5 on the national aria club chart with their remix of local BMG artist Hamish (ex Cordrazine), and the track they remixed for Tiesto & Junkie XL hit the Top 60 singles chart in the
u.k..
‘nubreed are by far my favourite live act… i think they’re going to be one of the biggest electronic music acts in the world’ –
phil k (aus)
on stage, nubreed have played some of the biggest events here in australia including the
boiler room at big day out, mainstage at falls festival, the offshore festival,
vibes on a summer’s day, mainstage at two tribes, and many more. they’ve supported some of the world’s biggest mainstream, urban and dance acts including the
black eyed peas, de la soul, jamiroquai, fatboy slim, junkie xl, dave seaman,
layo & bushwacka, sasha and many more. nubreed were also asked to support
groove armada nationally on their last australian tour but had to turn it down due to their album writing commitments.
most recently they headlined the nokia sponsored breaks on n-gage national tour of
australia to help launch the new nokia n-gage mobile phone. on the strength of their live performances alone, they’ve appeared on the cover of almost every major street press magazine in
australia over the last 12 months.
in signing to vicious for australia & new zealand, & mob records in the
u.k., nubreed are making their intentions crystal clear - and their intentions are global.
the Australian release of the original will hit shelves on april 26th complete with special bonus tracks and a limited edition bonus mix
