There are between 6-10 million daughters and sons queer parents in the United
States. 2.Daughters
and sons of queer parents have the same incidence of heterosexuality as the
general population. 3. Most
'problems' that daughters and sons of queer parents have are actually
stemed from going through a divorce, and not because of their orientation. 4.
Children of queers are exposed to more people of the opposite sex than many kids
of heterosexual parents. 5.
Children of queers are more open-minded about a wide variety of things than
people with heterosexual parents. 6.
Daughters of lesbians have higher self-esteem than daughters of heterosexual
women. Sons are more caring and less aggressive. 7. If
the children of queer parents are queer themselves they are much better off than
if they had heterosexual parents. 8.
There is absolutely no evidence that children are psychologically or physically
harmed by having queer parents. 9.
COLAGE (Children of Lesbian and Gays Everywhere) is the only national
organization for children of queer parents.
