Back To Nowhere

RAMBLINGS

Tuesday 13th August 2002

Here's my initial thoughts on the Out of Spite weekend in Leeds that I posted on the Fracture Forum.

Top quality weekend - I was very sad when it ended.

I enjoyed:

- Pretty much all of the bands that I saw.

- Beer under 2 quid.

- Having a hotel room!

- Meeting people I've never spoken to before such as Jez, Penny and Mel - plus seeing lots of old friends.

- Juvenile Hall. I wish I could go every month. But only if the people I hung out with were there.

- Standing in the rain when it got too hot.

- Acquiring J Church, American Steel and Out of Spite t-shirts.

I didn't enjoy:

- Hot hotel rooms.

- Absolutely horrible nightmares on Sunday night. I think I woke and went back to sleep half a dozen times and went straight back to it.

- The ever present shyness meaning I didn't say hello to loads of people even though I knew precisely who they were!

- Pointless slamdancing.

- The end of Sunday night - I wish the fest could have gone on another week!

My Out of Spite awards:

Good people: Lloyd, Mates, Nij, Dan Heap, Kerry, Danny Twofold, Penny, Al and Chris AOTD, Jez, Jess and her two friends, Sian and Sean, Pete, Badger, Andrew Ninety, Bob and Cath, Chris Cut, DS, Hilary, Nick Southport, Bad Mongo, Matt Scuttle, Lainey - plus loads of others I'm sure.

Top three bands of the weekend:

1) Leatherface (absolutely majestic)

2) Pylon

3) The Sex Maniacs

Cutest girl of the weekend (haha):

Ellie. Never spoke to her but if I'm thinking of the right girl (DS-13 shirt?) then wow.

Cutest boy(s) of the weekend (!!!):

Nij pissed out of his head on Sunday night.

Jarv the tramp.

High point of the weekend:

"All I can do is try my best for you"

Low point of the weekend:

When it ended.

Heroes of the weekend:

Adam, Mel and Si - nuff said.
