For the first time since December 1995 we actually managed to beat Dulwich! The only goal of the game came from debutant Billy Manuel on 5 mins when he knocked in a loose ball after Mercer spilled a Myatt free kick. The Ravens had the best of the first half, but as it went on Dulwich came back into the match and Harwood was called on to make a couple of fine saves. Just as the whistle for the break sounded Harris was kicked on the ground and a massive fight broke out between the two squads. It took several minutes for things to calm down and it was only as the teams came out for the second half that the linesman confirmed Dulwich’s Ward had been sent off. He also confirmed that Bartley had been racially abused by some Dulwich players and that was why he had to be restrained by several of his team mates. The Pinkies were furious he had not been sent off as well.
The second half was predictably firey! When Husbands wasn’t kicking the ball out of play he was trying to do the same to Kirk Watts and there were elbows and late challenges flying all over the field. Dulwich played well with 10 men and Bromley failed to make their advantage count. Bartley, Harris and Manuel all had chances but failed to test the keeper. On the plus side The Ravens defended well and every player gave his all to the last. Kwabena Amaning came on for the last 15 mins and ran his heart out making some vital challenges. The final whistle was greeted with a roar and suitable celebrations.
