BROMLEY 1 TOOTING & MITCHAM UTD 1 – FA TROPHY 2nd RD - 01/12/01

A cracking cup tie at The Nest fought out between two evenly matched sides in a great atmosphere. Bromley had the better of the first half with Watts looking dangerous and the defence, especially Lester, standing the test well. Both sides had opportunities to go in front, but they went in level. Watts went off injured and after the break Tooting looked the stronger side with Harwood making some great saves, but The Ravens came back into the game as the half went on. The deadlock was finally broken by Tooting on 75mins, when a shot from distance cannoned of the post and fell to Kane who tapped it in. The Terrors could have gone further ahead, but Harwood stepped up again to deny them and with 10mins left Tivey broke down the left and cut in to the box before rolling the ball across the 6yard area for Taylor who slid in and sent the ball into the net for 1-1. This was probably a fair result for what was a brilliant game to watch, either side could have had a penalty in either half, but the Ref was equally bad!

Quote for the game, ‘That equalizer felt good!’
