BROMLEY 1 EGHAM TOWN 2 – LEAGUE 02/12/03

Bromley were taught a lesson in counter attacking football by a hard working Egham side who only had ten men for the last half an hour!

From the off Egham sat deep and soaked up the pressure, but always had one eye on the quick break. Amoako missed a good one on one chance, which was stopped by ex-Dulwich keeper Mercer. The Sarnies tactics came off on 11 mins when a break down the left ended up with a low cross causing havoc in the Bromley defence and Golding was on hand to smash in the ball for 0-1. Bromley did rally and they had a huge amount of possession and pressure, which resulted in Reid equalising on 24 mins with a sharp turn and shot just inside the box. The Ravens went on to dominate the rest of the half, but came away at the break still only level.

The second half saw Bromley take the attacking initiative again, but were suckered again on 52 mins when Golding hit a long range effort which left Harwood stranded as it sailed into the net 1-2. Half time sub David Smith, who was played out of position on the left was subbed straight away for Paul Vines, but despite the ultra attacking formation no real chances were created. On 62 mins Deluka was sent off for Egham after a terrible foul on George earned him his second yellow in only 15 mins! In the remainder of the game Bromley only managed one shot on target, which came from Harney late on. The Ravens were bereft of ideas and failed to create anything despite tons of possession. The final whistle was more of a relief as it ended the pain of watching such inept rubbish. Fair play to Egham and their very vocal fans.
